We're devoting all of our coverage this week to the 2019 Milan furniture fair, from the best things we saw around town, to the best of this year's Euroluce show, to the up-and-coming designers and new brands we discovered along the way. Today we're sharing our 13 favorite collections at Salone Satellite, the section of the Salone del Mobile fairgrounds devoted to emerging talents — which is where we discovered many a Sight Unseen veteran back in the day, from Sebastian Herkner to Ana Kras.

The Best of Milan Design Week 2019, Part I

Each year in Milan brings something truly wonderful to behold, whether it's furniture hoisted into inflatable bubbles (Nilufar Depot), a newly open-to-the-public Piero Portaluppi interior (Massimo de Carlo Gallery), or the coolest amoeba-shaped marble tables we've ever seen (by Studio Binocle, which we're featuring here today). We'll be devoting our whole week to coverage from the fair so stay tuned, and click through for the first of our favorites.

The Best Thing We Saw in Milan Today, Day 4

This week we're featuring quick hits from some of our favorite things at the Milan furniture fair that caught our eye. Today's snapshot features three table lamps from three different designers in three very different materials: Bec Brittain's new marble Heron lamp for Mmairo, Maarten de Ceulaer's stained glass beauty for the Doppia Firma exhibition, and the tortoise and aluminum Obelisk from one of our favorite newcomers of the week, Kabinet.

In LA, A Weekend-Long Show Cheekily Called “Object Permanence”

Two weekends ago, a group of Los Angeles–based designers came together to interpret the candlestick in the first iteration of "Object Permanence," a new, quarterly event co-curated by designer Leah Ring of Another Human and Emma Holland Denvir, head of Hem's U.S. business development. Hosted at Hem’s Los Angeles showroom, the selection of designers and their objects follows a recent trend of reimagining near-relics like the ashtray, the bookend, and the paperweight, in which each object represents a tiny distillation of its designer's aesthetic.

17 Projects We Loved at This Year’s Collectible Fair in Brussels

We didn't have the pleasure of personally attending this year's Collectible design fair in Brussels, where Sight Unseen hosted an installation by Objects of Common Interest, yet word traveled quickly back to us that those who did had taken to referring to our presentation as "the famous booth," an accolade that Instagram seemed to confirm. We were flattered to hear it, of course, but also honored to share the spotlight with so many other great presentations by galleries and up-and-coming designers. Click through to see our favorites.

A Brand New Design Gallery in Mexico City Just Launched With an All-Star Lineup

MASA was inevitable, and MASA was what we'd been waiting for — a stake planted for high-end design within the cultural renaissance happening in Mexico City right now. Everyone talks about the city's epic food scene, and its influential art galleries, and the Zona Maco fair, and the budding starchitects building fancy museums. There's even a Design Week Mexico and a couple of good design galleries working with local talents. But before MASA debuted this past week, with an exhibition of furniture and lighting by 15 of the city's top artists and designers, there wasn't really a definitive platform for contemporary experimental design, at least not one as ambitious as this.
