This Cannabis Dispensary in Toronto Is Practically a Celine Store

We've arrived in the era of cannabis dispensaries with serious design pedigree, from Serra's Commune-designed L.A. branch to StudioAC's Toronto store for Edition. This week we got images of the newest entrant into the space: the Alchemy cannabis flagship in Toronto, by Paolo Ferrari studio, which has truly left the realm of "oh that's chic for a dispensary" and entered the realm of "might as well be a Celine store."

The Parisian Design Duo Channelling 1970s French Glamour

The 1970s were, arguably, one of the best eras in French design. It’s a decade that saw then-president George Pompidou commission Pierre Paulin to reimagine the Élysée Palace’s interiors in his unorthodox space-age designs, and the stiff conventions of mid-century modernism finally loosened into an ironically cosmopolitan glamour. So when we came across French design duo Hauvette & Madani’s sumptuous interiors that so perfectly channel that decade’s vibe, we were instant fans.

Pops of Color and Prototypes Elevate This Brooklyn Renovation in a Former Bakery

Not to make you feel bad or anything but while some of us baked banana bread during lockdown, Antonio Monserrat attempted a full renovation of his historic Williamsburg apartment, the first solo project of his career after formally training as an architect in London and Vienna and spending several years at Zaha Hadid Architects. His ambition paid off as he now lives in a space where lively pops of color meet beams of morning light and elegant arches accentuate high ceilings.

A Los Angeles Natural Wine Store Inspired by French Midcentury Groceries

Earlier last month, a bright, cozy, and colorful new shop opened in Los Angeles's Atwater Village neighborhood. Called Wine & Eggs, the store — which sells natural wine and provisions, and in many ways reminds us of the LA version of Dimes Market — is the brainchild of Monica Navarro, owner of the beloved LA boutique Individual Medley (as well as a gem-focused wine store in the desert). For the interior, Navarro hired designer Adi Goodrich, in her first interiors project in Los Angeles.

This Berlin Restaurant Proves How Much Color Can Define a Space

We're featuring these photos because Lok6 boasts a new interiors concept by the Berlin-based duo Various Objects, but in fact the images show how minimal an intervention is necessary when color is the absolute star of a space. Nearly every photo is suffused with a kind of late-day warmth that arises from the restaurant's foundational materials — brick-red pigmented reinforced concrete, and structural steel that's been powder-coated to match.

This Parisian Doctor’s Office is More Chic Than Almost Any Apartment We’ve Seen

Designer Alessandro Moriconi — who cut his teeth working as an artistic director for luxury brands as well as a creative director for the indubitably chic studio Humbert & Poyet — conceived the space as something like a Milanese apartment, combining terrazzo, walnut paneling, and Murano glass, graphic rugs, marble tables, and accents like Greco-Roman sculptures and "woven" glass door handles.

This New York Residence Deftly Mixes Vintage and Custom — and Tile for Miles

Chances are, if you've eaten out in New York or LA in the past five years, you're familiar with some of the details that recur in this New York residence. After all, its interior design team, Home Studios, is responsible for such cozy elements as the channeled paneling at The Spaniard, the archways and tile at Bibo in LA, the copper accents at Ramona in Greenpoint, and the globular pendants at the sadly shuttered Five Leaves in East Hollywood. This 2,000-square-foot gut renovation in Noho — Home's first residential project in New York — employs all of those details and more.

This Spanish Studio Just Took the Checker Craze to the Next Level

In Masquespacio's interior for La Sastreria restaurant in Valencia, nearly every square inch of the bar area is covered in a different variation of our biggest trend prediction of the year — checkers — from your standard monochromatic Vans grid to various multicolored takes on the classic harlequin pattern. While it may seem at first like an attempt to become some kind of post-COVID Instagram Influencer pilgrimage, though, the design actually had a completely unrelated objective.
